“Heirloom”: this evocatively sounding English word perfectly sums up the unique characteristic of the Montblanc Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Special Edition. Its meaning is “heirloom” or “family keepsake”, and this pen will undoubtedly pass down from father to son, from generation to generation, the underlying message of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: only love gives a profound meaning to life.
A love destined to take shape in the ideas and memories captured on paper by the precious handcrafted gold nib of the fountain pen, according to the high-quality standards we have come to expect from the Meisterstück line, a true hallmark of the historic Hamburg company.
In this 2020, which has seen us all rediscover the importance of emotional bonds and friendship, the Le Petit Prince collection is joined by the already existing models The Fox and The Aviator, both inspired by characters from the story, and the third edition The Planet, in homage to the small asteroid B612, a tiny kingdom but no less loved by the eponymous hero.
A symbol of such dedication and ecological sensitivity is the rose that the little prince cultivates, and it is precisely this flower that the dramatic burgundy color alludes to, adorning the body and cap of the Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Precious Resin Le Grand and Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Resin Classique models.
In both of these writing instruments, the role of gold is the prerogative of the 14 kt nib, as well as the champagne-colored gold-plated fittings. In the Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Doué Classique version, the gilding extends to the cap, further enhanced by the elegant engraving of stars (one of which, lacquered in yellow, embellishes the clip of all the collection references) and the name of the already mentioned asteroid.
In this case, the nib is in 18 kt bicolor gold, adorned with the figure of the rose. The top of the range is represented by the Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Solitaire Le Grand Edition, with a burgundy-stained hornbeam wood body and a cap subjected to a similar treatment, also engraved with the star and B612 motifs.
To emphasize the values to which the collection is dedicated, the engraving on the cap top of the pens, immediately below the well-known six-pointed glacier symbol, emblem of the Maison, reads: “On ne voit bien qu’avec le coeur”, “One sees clearly only with the heart”, as the fox teaches in The Little Prince. Ideal complements to the collection are the rollerballs, ballpoint pens, burgundy ink, notebook, cufflinks, and even a bracelet, all specially made by Montblanc; in line with such a variety of offerings is the Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Holiday Coffret, which is expected to be launched starting in September and includes a Le Petit Prince Solitaire fountain pen with a ruby alongside the presence of gold, accompanied by a notebook and a special scented ink... with rose, specifying it is almost superfluous.
