Montblanc Roller Pen Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition Modena Yellow. Inspired by both the coat of arms of Enzo Ferrari's hometown – Modena – and the iconic color of the racing team's logo, this edition pays tribute to the second soul of Ferrari: the yellow.
The name Ferrari is synonymous with aesthetic design, powerful engines, constant technical innovation, and one of the most influential figures in the history of motor sports. With an unbounded vision and a boundless passion for motorsport, Enzo Ferrari helped his company achieve unmatched prestige by creating an everlasting legend.
Montblanc has dedicated the Montblanc Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition to this man and his passion for racing. Drawing inspiration from both the coat of arms of Enzo Ferrari's hometown – Modena – and the iconic color of the racing team's logo, this edition pays tribute to the second soul of Ferrari: yellow. Dates marking the birthday of Enzo Ferrari and his first race victory are engraved on the cone, while the top of the cap features his signature and the name of his father's workshop, “Officina Meccanica Alfredo Ferrari,” referencing his origins.
It is adorned with the Montblanc emblem made from precious blue resin, further tribute to the Modenese emblem, and highlighted by intricate metalwork that recalls the grille of a vintage car. Enzo Ferrari's first victory at the Circuito del Savio was also the occasion that marked the dawn of the now-famous Ferrari logo. Among the many spectators admiring Enzo Ferrari's daring driving that day was the family of Italian aviation ace Francesco Baracca, who had served in the same division as Enzo's brother, Dino, during World War I. Francesco Baracca's mother, Countess Paolina Biancoli, suggested to Enzo Ferrari to use the emblem of a rearing and unbridled horse from her son's aircraft as a good luck charm on his racing cars. Associated with the courage and will to dominate of a national hero, the emblem was the ideal symbol for Enzo. Nine years later, the Cavallino Rampante was used for the first time against a yellow background to decorate a car.
It was 1932 at the 24 Hours of Spa, and the Ferrari team secured first and second place with two cars displaying the Cavallino Rampante. The Cavallino Rampante is engraved on the cap of the Montblanc Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition, along with the words of the countess: “It will bring you luck.” The first car made by Ferrari, the 125 S, with twelve cylinders, rolled out of the Maranello factory on March 12, 1947. Twelve engraved lines symbolize the twelve cylinders. Enzo Ferrari's motto, “You cannot describe passion, you can only live it,” decorates the ruthenium-finished clip.
