Don't forget to save your customization to be able to add to cartThe fountain pen known as the "Capless" has undergone a surprising evolution, as it retains its most creative feature: a retractable nib. Elegant design and smart technology continue in the refined classic style.
The Pilot Namiki Capless pens are crafted using the Japanese decorative technique Maki-e Raden, which uses parts of the Australian abalone shell for decorations.
The abalone is a large shell: the artist, however, only uses the blue part, which is usually the smallest and most precious.
The processing of the abalone shell is very particular and requires a lot of time: the shell is beaten with a very hard stone and transformed into very thin layers, then cut into strips a few millimeters wide and applied to the layer of fine lacquer around the cap and the barrel of the fountain pen.
