The Sailor nibs are without a doubt the best on the market. That is why true collectors will be thrilled with the new Special Edition of the 1911 Large series, featuring the famous and valuable Naginata nibs.
After 3 years, Sailor has resumed the production of the famous nibs by master Nagahara.
Characteristics of Sailor 1991 nibs in 21Kt gold Special Nib:
Sailor Naginata Togi: the Naginata nib is characterized by elongated iridium tips compared to traditional nibs. This allows for strokes that are more or less wide depending on the angle of the pen.
Naginata Concord: The Concord nib gets its name because its shape resembles the famous Concord airplane.
The Concord nib writes thinly in the standard position and very broadly when used upside down!
Naginata Fude De Mannen: The Fude De Mannen nib has a very interesting shape as it is curved upwards. This allows for variable strokes depending on the angle used.
Naginata Emperor [MF, M, B]: The Naginata Emperor nib is identical to the Naginata Togi but has an additional solid gold tab that facilitates ink flow when needed (for example: quick or particularly elaborate signature).
Cross Point Series: here we have a truly complex nib, also from an aesthetic point of view, as the tip of the nib is made up of 2 nibs. The Cross Point nib writes very smoothly and has a very broad stroke.
Cross Concord: this nib is the Magnum Opus of the Japanese company's construction techniques. The double nib used in the standard position writes thinly, if reversed it writes broadly and with excellent ink flow.
Cross Music: The very particular design of the Music nib is the double nib cut vertically. Vertically the nib has a stroke between fine and medium. Horizontally the stroke becomes double Broad. The angle also plays its part, allowing for strokes that are more or less broad.
The undisputed quality of Sailor nibs
It is said that with a precious fountain pen, the writer assumes an air of accomplishment while practicing the art of calligraphy. While one writes, they express their thoughts and innermost passions to the world. A pen in hand becomes an extension of the body and soul. Writing with a fountain pen is a romantic bond with our past culture that allows for personal expression which cannot be emulated by today's sterile forms of communication. Above the times a fountain pen will remain, and will forever remain, the purest means of personal expression.
To this end, Sailor has been fortunate to enjoy the innovative abilities of nib designer Nobuyoshi Nagahara and the skill of his son Yukio Nagahara. For decades they have become passionately united with their craft and today Mr. Yukio Nagahara personally oversees and directs the design process of Sailor's unique nibs, based on the legacy that his father kindly established with a truly unique series of styles of nibs and pens, which Sailor proudly offers to its enthusiasts. These pens, just like the man who made them, are truly unique in design, character, and personality.
Fine nibs can only be produced by professional craftsmen who scrupulously make them one by one.
First, gold and other precious metals are melted and subsequently rolled. They are then shaped and iridium is carefully applied to the nib determining its size. It is then necessary to refine and polish to prepare it for the next step.
At this stage, the perfect ink flow and elasticity are determined. With careful precision, the nib is cut along an exact vertical line. This process ensures the correct airflow and unique flexibility for each Sailor nib.
Finally, the top of the nib and the writing surface are meticulously polished and fine-tuned to ensure the smoothest possible writing experience. Now, the nib is truly born into its own life; conceived, crafted, refined, and presented to you to complete its journey.
