Solari Lineadesign » Cifra 3 Watch da tavolo
The Cifra3 clock is composed of digit rollers that move solidly, sharply, precisely, minute by minute, without any hands to interpret, enclosed in a distinctive shape and a design that has become an icon of Made in Italy worldwide. Designed by Gino Valle, winner of the prestigious "Compasso d'oro" award in 1956.
Cifra3 for the table is manually assembled by "time tailors". Only expert hands can assemble the countless panels that must be mounted in a specific sequence.
The first project for an electromechanical flip clock (Cifra 5) was conceived by Remigio Solari and developed by architect Gino Valle, receiving the “Compasso d’oro” award in 1956.
From that first product, a true family of clocks was born, of which Cifra 3 represents the highest expression of the synthesis of beauty and functionality.
Its operation remains unchanged, with the periods of alternating current transforming into time units and the motor generating the rotational movement of rollers and panels.
Simple and perfect.
Cifra3 is considered one of the highest expressions of the synthesis between technology and creative design, between planning and communicative strength.
Recognized as one of the prestigious pieces of Italian design of the 20th century, it is an integral part of the design object collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Science Museum in London.
